In the void of other ideas on how to help my collect 20 cent coins I put some adsense adds up. Being my first ones I was a little hesitant on how well it would do but here it is day two and well it’s against googles TOS for me to tell you how much I have earnt but 1 extra 20 cent coin has been added to my collection. Yeah!
It still may not be the best way for people to help out so still send me on any suggestions…
My girlfriend asked me last night, when do know you have enough and you can stop collecting 20 cent coins? What’s the goal? I gave it some though while I was falling asleep last night and had a few ideas:
Break a World record?
Certain $ (for a charity goal)?
Number of them?
Weight?
Height (eg enough to reach to moon or something)?
Length (around the world)?
Percentage of the total in circulation
Enough for someone official to ask me to release them back into circulation (the cheeky side of me likes this one)?
but I want every-one’s opinion too. What should my goal be?
I just did a quick test to find out if it the paypal thing works and guess what. Paypal charges 30 cents for someone to donate 20 cents so that’s not going to increase my collection so I think I’ll just promptly remove that before I go backwards : ( Does any one have any other suggestions?
Until any other idea’s show themselves I’ve popped a couple of adsense adds in the top right, clicking them (depending on the add) earns a bit of money which I’ll convert into 20 cent coins ( and I’ll put them up separately so people can see the contribution).
Oh and I might auction off 5 links a month from the site to help things along too. Any other ideas?
Only two more this weekend It’s just reinforced that I need to speed it up so I’m going to add a donate button so other people add 20 cents to my collection too. After a bit of exploration this is how you do add a donate button to your wordpress site:
Select the merchant tools tab and go to the Website Payments Section and you’ll see a donation option, click on it.
Answer the questions choosing donations and set an ammount if you want to. I choose 20 cents of course.
Hit the generate button, button at the bottom of the page and it will spit out a bit of code for you. Save it.
Now you can place it on your site, either on your post ot on your site. I put mine in the side bar by editing the file wp-content/themes/name/sidebar.php and puting the code in the place I wanted.

Exciting eh… most of us (males) have that jar of coins next to door were we empty our change as we get home each that day. I’m not hughly different but over the last few year I have only kept the 20 cent coins. Now I’ve got quite a few and I enjoy seeing my pile grow. The larger it is the more I want to add to it (and the more annoyed my girlfriend gets ).
Now it was suggested to me that my collection has been growing by a coin or two a day, and it was going to take several lifetimes to collect a significant ammount. So if I was to do it I would need help and being the nerd that I am this sprung to mind. So here I am on the web and with a bit of luck and skill I may be add to get some doate a 20 cent coin buttons going and a few other things to help my collection grow. And before you sugest it, yes just going out and cashing in $100 for 20 cent coins would be me ruining my fun.
